The band got its name of Chris’s fiancée, Ashley, who sadly passed away in a car accident. They changed the name of the band to honor her.

They have had tremendous success with their first album which was released back in 2007 and they have been touring since its release date. The music is inspired from the reality of life, life in general and from the things that they experience or see other people experiencing.

Having a great feel for body art, most of the band members get tattooed to pay tribute to their family and friends with their body art. Most band members carry a tattoo that is a reminder of being part of the band. Others, like Wooten, has tattoos that honor his autistic brother and his mother, Chris has a tattoo dedicated to his late fiancée and Nixon who has a tattoo in the shape of a heart which stands for a relationship. The band mostly does their tattoos at Grade A tattoos in Ft. Wayne by a guy named Och. They think tattoos should haunt the ones that seek them, but in a good way.

Nixon’s tattoos are exceptionally awesome and go really well with his emo hairstyle. He also admitted that every time he goes to get a new tattoo, people warn him that his career options circle around musician or bouncer at a strip club. He said that every single tattoo that he has actually means something and they reflect things from his life and things that he has been through.

Although Nixon has many awesome tattoos, there is not much information as to what they mean and he probably likes it that way knowing that every one of them has a deep meaning to him.

Of the tattoos that we know about, he has an eye with the word “Dream” underneath his left arm. He has a heart on his left arm, which we mentioned earlier, a hand holding a rose, with the words “Just an apology” on his right arm. He also has the word “Obsessed” written on the knuckles of both his hands. On the left side of his neck he has a tattoo with the words “where words fail, music speaks” and above some music notes. On the right side of his neck he has a bluebird saying “Casus Belli” which actually means “Incident of War”. Another tattoo that looks like a bird is on his left rib side area. And of course, the tattoo that is the Framing Haley brand on his left and right arm.

She proudly wears her tattoos on her wrist, her shoulder, inner arm and on her back, where she has a simply amazing tattoo that can be seen in one of her later videos. When Lady Gaga was asked how many tattoos she has, she had trouble remembering the exact number, maybe because not all of them are for everyone to see.

Her latest tattoo from her upper left arm pays tribute to all of her fans which she refers to as “little monsters”. The tattoo is situated next to an existing one which is a quote from the German poet and philosopher Rainer Maria Rilke. The quote translates like this: “Confess to yourself in the deepest hour of the night whether you would have to die if you were forbidden to write. Dig deep into your heart, where the answer spreads its roots in your being, and ask yourself solemnly, Must I write?”

This quote from her left arm was reportedly done in order to honor the Japanese photographer Araki. Another of her tattoos that portrays a Hawaiian daisy on her left shoulder with the words ‘Tokyo Love’ was also inked in honor of the Japanese photographer Araki.

Perhaps the best known tattoo that she has is the piece sign on the inside of her wrist. People have told her in the past that the sign is actually upside down but she replied that the sign is the right way up when she looks at it and that is the way she wanted it. There are some people such as Lady Gaga that don’t just tattoo themselves to be cool and noticed and who believe that tattoos are a form of artistic expression.

So why did Lady Gaga get a piece sign tattoo? She said that this tattoo is dedicated to John Lennon which was a great inspiration to her and many others because he was always talking and singing about piece.

Lady Gaga’s personal philosophies have started to manifest visually all over her body from the age of 17 when she decided to get her first tattoo with the help of a hake ID. The tattoo was a treble clef music symbol situated on her back hip. In 2008 she decided to cover the treble clef tattoo on her back with floral tattoos of vines and roses. The tattoo begins at the base of her back and wrap up her waist and under the left arm.

As you can tell from the Lady Gaga tattoos pictures, they all have a deeper meaning; all her tattoos are amazing and thought provocative.

I don’t know what surprised me more: that I even noticed the latest issue of Cosmopolitan magazine or that I immensely enjoyed what I saw, which was a short-haired, tatted-up visual of Pink.

Normally, I make a concerted effort to avoid looking at the dozens of magazines, mainly women’s interest, fitness, and tabloids, that litter the check-stand aisles. But the June 2010 issue of Cosmopolitan, perhaps the most hated lady mag of all, caught my eye at the neighborhood Shopper’s. And I couldn’t look away.

There was Pink, a bad-assed, foul-mouthed, tattooed singer after my own heart, covering a publication most known for their bizarre sex tips. She looked completely different from their average cover girl who is almost always sporting a bright, solid dress, long flowing hair and a perky smile. (They even made Lady Gaga a version of this.) That average cover girl, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lauren Conrad, or Jessica Simpson, is who women “should” want to be: Smart but not too geeky, sexy but not slutty, professionally successful but not threatening. And if one of them should become too much of a good thing, she should be apologetic about it. Or, as Beyonce has done, create an altar ego whom may bear the brunt of her smarts, independence, and sex appeal.

Pink isn’t that chick. Her prettiness isn’t the big-boobed, long-haired, fake teeth variety. Her body isn’t perfectly proportioned to appeal to the largest number of men possible. And she has tats. Not tattoos, which can be small and traditionally girly, like the cute little stars Rihanna has everywhere. Tats, by contrast, are big, gothic, and meant to make a statement other than sexuality.

There is a debate among women about what type of woman willingly inks herself to the nth degree; the verdict is normally slutty, trashy, and some synonym of masculine. The author of a blog post on Sandra Bullock’s soon-to-be ex-husband’s tatted mistress, Michelle McGee, wrote, “I couldn’t help but wonder what exactly it could be that James would find attractive about McGee. This is just my personal opinion, but people with tattoos all over their face and body just don’t look good to me. Especially if they’re on a female. Ew.” The blog, “The Glamazons,” followed this assessment up by fawning over celebs with itty-bitty tattoos in provocative places, like Britney Spears’ tramp stamp.

This type of thinking is another, perfect example of “enlightened sexism.” Tattoos, historically body decoration for males in the Western world, are fine for women as long as they contribute to her sexual appeal to men. A tattoo on, say, your lower back or near your boobs achieves this, while one on your forearm, bicep, or wrist may not.

This may be why the January/February 2010 issue of Women’s Health, which I also bought on a whim because Pink was on the cover, only featured the two smallest of the singer’s tattoos. Cosmo, though, decided to show off Pink’s left arm sleeve — “sleeve” means an arm entirely covered with tattoos. And they didn’t try to soften up her hair, but actually made it even more androgynous-looking.

It’s too early to tell how successful Pink’s Cosmo cover will be, but I hope that it might show the magazine industry (which Pink accused of telling her she wasn’t pretty enough for other covers!) and other image-based businesses that not all women want to be the strangely disciplined, archetypal girly-girl women that their products generally promote. There’s nothing wrong with the way those women personify femininity and sex appeal, but it is limited. Pink’s appeal isn’t better, but it is different and rings true for some women.

The singer and the Mean Girls star both had the word “Shhh…” tattooed on their index fingers during an impromptu visit to Shamrock Tattoos in Hollywood.  But it was only after Allen showed off the design on her online Twitter page that she realized fellow pop star and tattoo fan Rihanna had the same body art inked in 2008. Lily Allen gave an interview where she admits to  regretting her “Shhh…” finger tattoo. Allen explains, “I’ve since found out Rihanna’s got the same thing, so it’s not really… I mean she’s very cool – but I thought I was being original!”

Tattoos have long been in style with musicians.  Former teen idol Justin Timberlake has a guardian angel, amongst others.  Rapper Eminem has more tattoos than can be counted, including his daughter’s name and his own.  The wording on Keith Urban’s wrist, “Omni Vincit Amor” is Latin for ‘Love Conquers All;’  he also has an eagle on one arm.

Some sports celebrities also go for tattoos.  Michael Jordan has his fraternity symbol tattooed above his heart, while Dennis Rodman is a virtual canvas of artwork.

Not to be outdone, many female stars also show various degrees of artwork.  Young actress Drew Barrymore is essentially a canvas full of tattoos;  it is said that she created most of the designs herself.  Reese Witherspoon is more subtle, wearing only one small star tattoo which is rarely visible.  Pamela Anderson has a variety of tattoos also, the most notable being the word ‘Mommy’ on one finger, which reportedly used to read ‘Tommy.’  Spice Girl Victoria Beckham has five stars to represent each member of her family, her husband’s initials, and the traditional Jewish phrase ‘I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine.’

Some of today’s supermodels also sport tattoos.  Kate Moss, Christy Turlington, and Stephanie Seymour all have these permanent forms of fashion accessories.  Most supermodels who opt for tattoos show fewer and smaller designs than celebrities in other fields.

While many celebrities have had tattoos for a very long time, the popularity of tattoos amongst stars has been increasing, both in the number of celebrities who have them and the number of tattoos that they have.  A very few have only one tattoo;  more and more are taking on a large number of tattoos as well as more and more visible tattoos, using skin as a canvas for nearly unlimited varieties of permanent artwork.

As celebrities show off their tattoos, and this is picked up by the media, it presents an ever-increasing influence for their fans, especially amongst the younger generation, to want to do likewise.  As with anything else that stars do in the public eye, their influence with tattoos helps this form of artwork become more widespread, more popular, and more acceptable to most of the American population in general.
